This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Moving-Overseas.com collects when you use our website and quote service, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch implementation act (UAVG).
The short version
- We only collect what we need to match you with moving companies: your route, the size of your move, your name, email and (optionally) phone number.
- We pass your request to a small number of IAM-certified movers — only the mover you select receives your contact details. Until then, movers see the route and volume but not who you are.
- We never sell your data and we do not send marketing emails without your consent.
- You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time via privacy@moving-overseas.com.
1. Who we are
Moving-Overseas.com is operated by BYRE B.V., registered in the Netherlands (KVK 59285087), Heide 5, 5981 NX Panningen. BYRE B.V. is the data controller for the processing described in this policy. We are an independent relocation concierge: we connect people planning an international move with certified moving companies. We do not move goods ourselves.
2. What data we collect
2.1 Data you give us
When you request quotes through our website you provide:
- Contact details — name, email address and, optionally, phone number.
- Move details — country (and, where given, city) of origin and destination, the size of your home or an itemised inventory from our volume calculator, your intended moving date and any notes you add.
- Your choices — which quote you select, replies you send us by email, and any messages to our support addresses.
2.2 Data collected automatically
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page and timestamps, collected through server logs and, with your consent, Google Analytics.
- Campaign data — if you arrive via a Google Ads advertisement we store the click identifier (gclid) and campaign parameters with your request, so we can measure which advertising leads to actual requests.

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we do not ask for or process special categories of data (such as health or religious data). Please do not include such information in your inventory notes.
3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis
We do not use your data for automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects. Which movers receive your request is determined by route, volume and partner availability, and you always choose the mover yourself.
4. Sharing with moving companies
This is the core of our service, so we want to be precise about it:
- Step 1 — anonymised request. We send your route, volume and moving date to a limited number of IAM-certified moving companies that serve your route (at most five). At this stage they do not receive your name, email address or phone number.
- Step 2 — quotes. Movers return their price indication to us and we present the quotes to you by email.
- Step 3 — your choice. Only when you select a quote do we pass your contact details to that one mover, so they can contact you directly. The other movers never receive your details.
From that moment the selected mover is an independent data controller for the data it needs to prepare and carry out your move; its own privacy policy applies to that processing. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, and we do not share it with other third parties except the service providers listed below or where the law requires it.
5. Service providers (processors)
We use the following providers to run our service. They process data on our behalf and under a data-processing agreement, and may not use it for their own purposes.
6. International transfers
Our own systems are hosted in the European Union. Some providers (Cloudflare, Google) may process data in the United States; these transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. If you request quotes for a move to or from a country outside the EU, the mover you select may of course be located in that country; that transfer is necessary to perform the service you requested (art. 49(1)(b) GDPR).
7. How long we keep your data
You can ask us to delete your data earlier at any time (see section 8); we will then remove everything we are not legally required to keep.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- Rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten"), unless we must keep it by law;
- Restrict or object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- Data portability — receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example for analytics cookies), without affecting processing before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@moving-overseas.com from the address you used for your request, or write to the postal address above. We respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request. There is no charge, unless requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
If you believe we handle your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority: Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, Postbus 93374, 2509 AJ Den Haag, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
9. Security
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic, access to our quote platform restricted to authorised staff with individual credentials, encrypted backups stored in the EU, and the principle that movers only see your identity after you have chosen them. No system is completely secure; if a data breach were to affect your rights, we will inform you and the supervisory authority as the law requires.
10. Cookies
Our website uses strictly necessary cookies, and — only with your consent — analytics and advertising-measurement cookies from Google. Which cookies we use, how long they last and how to withdraw consent is explained in our separate Cookie Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our service or the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version. For material changes that affect you, we will inform you by email where we have your address.
